Teaching and Learning through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Every child deserves the best start in life and the support that enables them to reach their full potential. The experiences that children have between birth to five years-old have a major impact on their future life chances, so you need to be sure that you are leaving your child in the best quality care available.

Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure. When their individual needs are met, and when they have a positive relationship with the adults caring for them. The safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS help us to provide a high quality setting that is welcoming, safe and stimulating, and where children are able to enjoy learning and grow in confidence.

All children are offered equal opportunities in an atmosphere that reflects a balanced and coherent, progressive model of planned learning.

The EYFS shapes our practice and the way we look after your child. Most importantly your child will be seen as an individual, who has their own interests and preferred learning methods. The staff will make observations to recognise your child's progress and understand their needs. In conjunction with talking to you about what your child does at home or at other settings, we will plan activities and support for your child, keeping you informed along the way.

Weekly planning documents, which outline scheduled activities and subject matter, are displayed on the Nursery's Notice Board.  The Nursery is subject to inspections  undertaken by OFSTED.

Sometimes children are seen as 'just playing' but this child-initiated play is as important as the adult-led teaching and provides the foundations for understanding your child and extending their learning. Most importantly, children need to be happy and have fun in their learning and we hope you will see this on your visit to us!

The atmosphere when entering the setting is warm and friendly.
